The opening ceremony of ASEAN Plus Three(China, Japan and Korea)Forum on Biomass Energy and Equipment Exhibition started on July 13, in Suzhou, Jiangsu province. Over 120 participants, including officials, agricultural experts and entrepreneurs from ASEAN member countries, China, Japan and the rest of the world attended the conference. The ceremony was hosted by Hu Yanan, deputy director of the Foreign Economic Cooperation Center, MOA, and addressed by Lu Xiaoping, deputy general of the foreign cooperation Division and Paul J. Heytens, PRC country director of ADB.
The attendees have focused on speeches and discussions on biomass energy, as well as the exhibition of technologies and achievements on some renewable biomass energy. In recent years, to explore some efficient, clean and renewable energy has been the strategic choice for all countries to counter the energy crisis, and the biomass energy will be popularized in East and Southeast Asia. Participants believed that the conference will facilitate to develop agricultural production and utilization of the waste in these areas and improve the supply of energy in rural areas in ASEAN and China. Furthermore, it will play an important role in promoting the low-carbon economy and people’s lives, as well as protecting the global climate.
